We’ve been recognised with a Health & Safety Award at Shotton Mill by John F Hunt Regeneration – and it’s one we’re really proud of.
The award was presented on site, with our Facilities Manager Joanne Martin there to receive it on behalf of the team.
It’s a big, busy workplace with over 2,000 people on it, so keeping welfare facilities, offices and communal areas to a high standard is part of keeping everything running properly. It’s not a one-off job. It’s constant, and it relies on the team staying on top of things throughout the day.
That’s why this recognition means so much to us.
Keeping standards high on a busy construction site
Steve Blundell, Associate Director HSEQ at John F Hunt Regeneration, summed it up on the day. “They consistently deliver high standards across welfare facilities, keeping us compliant and supporting workforce wellbeing every day. On a site with this many people, that level of consistency makes a real difference.”
For us, that reflects what the team are doing day in, day out. Checking and resetting washrooms, keeping welfare areas under control as they’re used, and making sure nothing slips as the site changes around them.
Becoming part of the site
It wasn’t just the work itself that was recognised. Steve also spoke about how the team shows up on site.
“They actively engage in weekly safety meetings, adapt to site demands, and take real ownership of their role,” he said. “They’re proactive in how they work and respond quickly to what’s needed on site.”
That’s a big part of what makes the difference. The team aren’t working separately from the site – they’re part of it. They stay close to what’s happening, and adjust when things change.

Boosting culture and morale
Then there’s the side of the job you don’t always see written down.
“They go the extra mile to lift morale across site,” Steve said, “from a simple joke to hosting charity events. They’ve made a positive contribution to the environment people are working in every day.”
From day-to-day conversations to charity bake sales and supporting fundraising efforts like Bev’s Kilimanjaro challenge, the team play their part in keeping the atmosphere on site positive as well as the standards high.
That matters more than people think.
Award-winning support
To be described as “a reliable, proactive team and a valued part of the project” is exactly what we aim for.
This award is a brilliant reflection of our team on site – the way they work, the attitude they bring, and the consistency they deliver every day.
